Williamsburg Landing, a CARF-accredited Life Plan Community, seeks
a part-time Accounting Assistant to join our Finance & Accounting
Team. Under the direction and guidance of the Resident Finance
Manager, this position will provide financial, administrative, and
clerical support by ensuring payments are completed and expenses
are controlled in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist in the day-to-day accounting functions of the facility
in accordance with current acceptable accounting and cost
reimbursement principles related to Williamsburg Landing
- Provide accounting and clerical support to the Finance &
Accounting Office
- Order office supplies and manage inventory
- Answer resident telephone calls and transfer to appropriate
staff member
- Prepare daily deposit for bank and corresponding cash report
for management
- Posts resident, clinic and miscellaneous cash payments by
recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions; research &
resolve discrepancies, keeping appropriate staff informed
- Maintains accounting records by making copies; filing
documents; attaching documents to resident EMR record
- Review and post resident charges from other departments; date
entry, review and post resident charges from Finance and Accounting
department; research & resolve discrepancies, keeping appropriate
staff informed
- Reconciles bank statements by comparing statements with general
ledger
- Reconcile selected general ledger accounts and submit journal
entry requests to the Resident Finance Manager for adjustment to
the general ledger
- Assist in distribution of resident monthly statement and
submission of long term care claim forms
- Assist in distribution of annual resident rate letters and
medical reduction letters
- Assist in annual audit by preparing assigned reports or
providing documentation as directed by the Resident Finance
Manager
- Work effectively with colleagues by practicing punctuality,
respect for deadlines, collaborative problem solving, and honest
communication
- Maintains confidentiality and security of all records, files,
credit cards, check blanks, and receipts
- Assumes responsibility for own professional development
including meeting all mandated standards and staying abreast of
developments within the field
- Performs other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSHigh school
diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of bookkeeping experience
or any satisfactory combination of experience and training that
demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the
above duties; intermediate computer literacy of Microsoft Word and
Excel and bookkeeping principles; detail oriented; accurate data
entry skills; effective verbal and written communication
skills.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESKnowledge of accounting theory and
practices for non-profits; ability to perform general bookkeeping
functions including double-entry accounting (debits, credits), and
reconciliations; understanding of Chart of Accounts, trial balance
and balance sheets; ability to maintain professional working
relationships with staff, community, and regulatory officials;
ability to work independently as well as part of a team and to
exercise sound business judgment
