Technician Hours: Part-Time (20-25 hours a week) Direct Report:
Facilities and Maintenance Manager BASIC FUNCTIONS The General
Service Technician will perform a wide range of skilled and
semi-skilled repairs and maintenance of the agency’s buildings,
grounds, and vehicles in accordance with all local, state, federal,
and agency policies. All facilities and equipment will be kept in a
hygienic, safe and presentable condition. He/She will assist the
Facilities and Maintenance Manager in coordinating outside service
vendors and volunteers when recommended to restore facilities,
equipment or grounds to proper condition. In addition, will
substitute custodians as needed, which includes mopping, sweeping,
cleaning bathrooms, and taking out the garbage, etc. .
QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in facility
management. Knowledge of light construction, painting, assembling
furniture and general work as needed. Two years of college and/or
technical school training and Universal EPA certification
preferred. Ability to transport equipment and staff to multiple
locations. Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s License or
Commercial Driver’s License. Must be willing to participate in a
professional organization and to obtain ongoing training in the
field of facility management. This individual must relate well to
children and adults. Inclement Weather Ensures building, parking
lots, and grounds are suitable for occupancy Arranges in advance
for supplies and services Notifies Facility Service Staff of
emergency work schedules Other Other duties as assigned by the
Facilities and Maintenance Manager and or CEO Skills Required:
General construction knowledge Eager to learn Can work under
pressure with multiple demands. Good communication skills General
computer skills Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion
and 10-20 pounds regularly Good knowledge of OSHA safety standards
Thinks proactively and is willing to share ideas and constructive
support to all members of the organization. Drivers License and a
good standing driving record Must be able to pass a background
check
