Job Description:
Supporting the Most Exciting and Meaningful Missions in the
World Auto Mechanic Duties
- Perform routine and general scheduled maintenance, per
manufacturer's specifications.
- Responsibilities and requirements include:
- Be in good physical condition and able to lift a minimum of 50
pounds.
- Perform technical automotive and heavy equipment maintenance
and repair services.
- Diagnose and repair undercarriage, final drives, engines,
electrical systems, computer systems, and hydraulics on generators,
large trucks, dozers, forklifts, security barriers, dock levelers,
loading docks, tractors, loaders, snow removal equipment, and
utility vehicles involving computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on Government-controlled
vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Retain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications
pertaining to any aspect of automobile work accomplished.
- Repair and replace defective and worn parts per manufacturer's
recommendations. Inspect components to assess the condition and
determine parts needed.
- Perform routine and general scheduled maintenance, per
manufacturer's specifications.
- Assemble and disassemble vehicles (engines, transmissions,
etc.).
- Conduct electrical system repairs, drive train adjustments, and
engine overhauls.
- Use Government provided wreckers to retrieve vehicles for
repair and disposal.
- Prepare vehicles used in exercises marked for destruction 'as
required, and upon request of the Government', so as to limit
unintended propagation of environmental contaminants.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repair of engines,
transmissions, chassis, driveline, body components, hydraulic
systems, brake systems, electrical systems, suspension systems,
wheels, tires, air conditioning systems, and undercarriages.
- Install fuel injection pumps, transmissions, hydraulic systems,
and component parts, as necessary.
- Maintain records in an electronic Fleet Management System,
recording work performed, time, and materials used for each
job.
- Procure maintenance and repair parts and supplies.Requirements
- High School diploma
- Must possess active Secret U.S. government clearance
- Abide by all OSHA-approved safety standards while in the shop
area.
- Possess, or have the ability to obtain within six-month of
employment, a Class B CDL with hazmat endorsement for management of
heavy equipment. A Class A CDL is preferred.
- Obtain and maintain necessary training and certifications for
the operation of forklifts as required by OSHA. Amentum is proud to
