candidates for the position of Chemical Process Engineer II!
ResponsibilitiesProvides chemical/ process engineering support to
implement or improve production equipment and/or systems including,
but not limited to, chemical process lines. Performs Root Cause
Analysis (RCA) for equipment/process issues. Develops and
implements appropriate countermeasures. - Leads development and
startup of small to mid-size chemical process lines. Prepare and
manage schedule and budget. Report progress as needed.- Initiates
change approval testing including Engineering Trials, Trial
Verifications (TV), Mass Trials, or Pilot Runs to confirm product
quality or other critical parameters remain unaffected.- Collects
process data, perform advanced trending, statistical evaluation,
and process control methodologies to monitor process performance
and identify areas for improvement.- Prepares and presents
proposals for process improvements including justification, ROI
(through Cost Management group), schedule, resources, etc.- Leads
small groups or teams in improvement activities (yield, uptime,
process efficiency, cost, problem resolution, etc.). Initiates
recommendations for improvements based on tasks assigned.- Creates
and investigates new recycle product ideas based on existing
knowledge and experience. Prepares and presents detailed proposals
to program management team.- Continues to build expertise and
knowledge of assigned process lines. Observes and records long term
trends in process variables and quality parameters.- Compiles
information & contributes to development of department / division/
project budgets and spending schedules. Monitors budget vs actual
spending results and makes recommendations for meeting budget
targets.- May develop and conduct training programs.- May assist
with development of new members by providing training for specific
areas of responsibility / knowledge. May lead or mentor Level I
engineer(s).- Demonstrates knowledge of thermoplastic resins (HIPS,
POM, etc.) and other materials specific to Canon new and recycled
products and their properties.- Supports startup of new
automation/chemical process lines to include testing and
development of process conditions and product quality
specifications (PFD - Process Flow Diagram). - Investigates root
cause of production issues impacting product quality or yield,
support implementation of improvements and countermeasures. -
Support change approval testing including Engineering Trials, Trial
Verifications (TV), Mass Trials, or Pilot Runs to confirm product
quality or other critical parameters remain unaffected. - Issue
Engineering Change Orders (ECO), Engineering Change Instructions
(ECI), and technical reports as needed. - Collects process data;
performs trending and statistical evaluation to monitor process
performance to understand stability and areas for improvement. -
Performs polymer material properties testing as needed. Utilize
common analytical methods (FTIR, XRF, DSC, TGA, MFI, stress/strain,
impact, optical, SEM, etc.). May include testing of other types of
materials. - Disassembles and categorizes Canon toner cartridge
materials. Recommends recycle stream for new models, identify
potential processing issues. May include other OEM products. -
Creates basic schedules, action item lists, progress reports for
prior mentioned activities as required. - Utilizes senior members
as mentors to gain understanding of company and divisional
policies/procedures as well as to build an effective
cross-functional network of contacts. - Creates and manages basic
budgets supporting prior mentioned activities as required. Report
budget plan versus actual as needed to management. - Recognizes
need for and embraces concept of continuous improvement. Creates
new ideas and recommendations based on engineering data, facts, and
observations. May lead improvement tasks depending on their scale.
Qualifications- B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering
or related Engineering field and 2-5 years' experience preferably
in a manufacturing environment.- Proficient in Microsoft Office.-
Able to lead basic projects.- Strong analytical and problem solving
skills.- Strong verbal and written communication skills.- Ability
