Location:Newport News, Virginia, United StatesDate: Jun 13, 2022Job DescriptionAnalyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and a variety of software applications.

• Supports the O41 Architectural TeamReviews and estimates design/construction costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs
  
  • Develops and reviews project plans concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion dates, and construction feasibility
  • Perform code evaluations, conduct building assessments and respond to emergent related issues in a fast paced, large industrial campus/complex setting
  • Responsible for ensuring clear articulation of priorities, targets, metrics and accountabilities. Monitors and reports project performance and initiates corrective measuresBasic Qualifications2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.Preferred Qualifications
    • Strong project management, communication, organizational and computer skills
    • Familiar with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, International Building Code, City of Newport News Code of Ordinances, ADA compliance, OSHA, and NFPA requirements or regulations.
    • Experience in heavy industrial and commercial facilities
