Primary Purpose of the PositionMaintain and improve the high level
of technology in the Ball plants. To optimize the machine processes
to improve cycle time, scrap reduction, quality defects, etc. Work
with Production and Engineering to execute process improvements for
all lines
What will you be responsible for?
- Complies with established job safety practices, policies and
procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the
safe performance of the work environment.
- Supports and follows the guidelines of the food safety
system.
- Responsible for preparing designs, programming, implementation
and support for control systems including PLC, robot and servo
motion-controls.
- Responsible for bills of materials, spare parts lists, and
specifications and overseeing the preparation of drawings for the
installation or modification of control systems, power
distribution, and lighting.
- Conducts all of his/her work with communication and
coordination involving appropriate engineering and plant
organizations.
- Consults with engineering and manufacturing personnel to assure
the use of appropriate and consistent technologies.
- Prepares bid packages/RFQ's, evaluates and educates potential
suppliers/contractors and evaluates bids for equipment, systems,
and construction work.
- Originates, investigates, and suggests improvements to
electrical equipment, systems, and processes for the purpose of
increased production, reduced cost, or improved
maintainability.
- Maintains knowledge of technology improvements in electrical
engineering, communicates their existence to the engineering and
manufacturing areas, and proposes/coordinates implementation or
evaluation of such innovations.
- Responsible for providing technical support to plants,
licensees, joint ventures, and customers. Participates hands-on in
troubleshooting investigations and corrective action of
electrical-related problems using hand tools and test
equipment.
- Prepares electrical check-out procedures and participates in
check-out and acceptance of equipment and systems.
- Participates in audits and upgrades and recommends improvements
to controls and processes.
- Works with outside consulting firms and vendors used in the
design of control, power distribution, and support and service
systems. Responsible for the review of vendor and other outside
engineering drawings and documents for suitability and compliance
with project requirements.
- Works with on-site electrical contractors and supplies
technical assistance in the installation, check-out, and start-up
of control, power distribution, and support and service
systems.
- Prepares cost estimates for electrical control and power
distribution systems.
- Oversees the scope, cost, and schedule of the electrical
portions of projects.
- Initiates, reviews, and follows all standard operating
procedures (SOPs).
- Maintains a broad understanding of other engineering
disciplines and of the mechanical functions of equipment used in
the plants.
- Maintains the professional competence, ethical integrity,
knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of
all assigned responsibilities.
- Assures and maintains safe and healthful working conditions
while enforcing safety rules and regulations.
- Maintains an awareness and complies with all environmental
management requirements.
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within
the department, the division, the group, and the company. Includes
ability to handle stress and to interact with others so as to
establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment
and minimize personal conflicts.
- While the regular working cycle of this position is usually
five days on (Monday-Friday), this job may include working weekends
(Saturday and Sunday); working hours may vary as specified by
management. Incumbent must be able to work overtime on a regular
basis and/or be on call as directed by management.

What are we looking for?
- Broad training in a related field usually acquired through
college degree level education or work-related experience.
- Bachelor degree in Instrumentation and Controls, Electrical
Engineering
- Job related experience for 5 year(s) minimum
- 2 years of automated manufacturing and high speed manufacturing
experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Beckhoff PLCs, servos and
controls
- Experience in Electrical Controls Wiring
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
Assists with the preparation of presentations.
- Listening. Practices attentive and active listening; has the
patience to hear people out; can accurately restate the opinions of
others even when he/she disagrees.
- Ability to apply standard evaluation, selection, and
substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques,
procedures, and criteria.
- Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary
information in a confidential manner.
- Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity,
knowledge, and skills.
- Performs such individual assignments as management may
direct.
- Experienced with AutoCAD preferred.
- Experience in programming, development, and troubleshooting of
Allen-Bradley PLCs, Ethernet networks, HMI, robots, and servos with
a strong emphasis on ControlLogix and Studio 5000 and Ethernet
networks required.
- Experience with Fanuc robots is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hiring Salary Range: $78,400 - $117,415 (Salary to be
determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge,
skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment
with market data.)
- Other Compensation: This role will be eligible to participate
in the annual incentive compensation plan.
