Job DescriptionA Maintenance Mechanic "A" shall be able to install, maintain, repair and/or rebuild assigned machines and equipment. This should be done in such a manner that it meets the needs of production to achieve their goals. All equipment being repaired will be left in a "safe to operate" condition, or will be left Locked and Tagged out. This would include but not limited to all safeties being intact and operational, as well as guarding in place. Essential Functions:The Maintenance Mechanic "A" must be able to perform the following activities as an expert. Their essential duties include, but are not limited to:Applying a basic knowledge of mechanical principles, power transmission, hydraulics, pneumatics, combustion systems, lubrication, bearings, and welding. (gas and electrical)The ability to read and understand blueprints, charts, tables, layout drawings, and shop related handout.The ability to use standard measuring and testing devices such as, tape measure, caliper, micrometer, meters...The safe and proper use of power tools, i.e., drills, grinders, mills, lathes, taps, reamers, saws,...Disassembly of problematic equipment to determine the root cause of failure and extent of repairs.Reassembly of equipment after determining the root cause of failure and repairs of defective component/s.Ability to repair and maintain complicated and/or special-purpose machines and equipment.Replacement of broken, worn, or defective tooling, parts, etc.Repair and refit problematic parts and/or tooling as necessary.Make any needed changes or adjustments machines and equipment to insure the efficient and safe operation.Understand and adhere to all OSHA safety policies such as Lockout Tag out, fall protection, proper PPE...Inspect work for quality and safety before releasing equipment into general use/production.Assist with the instruction and training of Maintenance Mechanics "B" and "C".Participate in total quality management projects to achieve continuous improvement.Participate in LEAN manufacturing and SPC activities as required.Adhere to Company policies with regards to break time, lunch periods, and overtime limits.Supply own hand tools common to the trade.MUST be able to weld.If you're thinking of making a change and want to learn more, reach out to me.
