Full-TimeOverviewWe are looking for a highly Technical Engineering
Manager to oversee the technical staff who are developing new core
technologies that solve real world problems! This individual will
manage the Functional Materials group within our Business
Development Engineering division at Canon Virginia. They will
support the ongoing growth and expansion of BDE and Canon and
establish a technical foundation to manage the development pipeline
of technology around Functional Materials. This position will be
responsible for the projects/themes that go through the Functional
Materials focus as well as the budget and manpower to fulfill the
program.This Engineering Manager coordinates and is responsible for
department activities involving design and implementation of major
capital projects/improved production techniques, maintenance and
repair of current equipment, rationalization of capital investments
and/or machine shop operations. They also actively seek
improvements and cost savings. Responsibilities- Assigns or
delegates responsibility for specific projects, tasks or
assignments. Gives work directions, resolves problems, prepares
work schedules, establishes objectives and timelines to ensure
completion of operational functions.- Confers with management,
production, and purchasing staff to determine engineering
feasibility and cost effectiveness of projects. - Reviews and
analyzes reports, records, and directives to determine department
performance relative to stated goals and objectives. Utilizes the
data to plan department activities, such as new departmental
commitments, status of work in progress, and problems encountered.
- Evaluates current procedures and practices for accomplishing the
activities and functions of the department in order to develop and
implement alternate methods designed for the improvement of work.
Seeks out, generates, and recommends/implements profit-making
and/or cost-saving ideas. - Develops, reviews, and/or revises
specifications for purchasing new equipment, machinery, tooling,
fixtures, and test/inspection equipment for improvements in
manufacturing current products and for start-up of new product
lines. - Prepares presentations, reports and/or records on
departmental activities for Directors.- Counsels and advises
subordinates concerning performance. Directs training of members to
improve performance and acquaint members with company policies and
procedures. - Initiates and/or recommends/approves personnel
actions such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, and
corrective or disciplinary measures. - Coordinates Production
Innovation related activities of subordinates, including training,
encouraging small group activities, and generally moti-vating
employees to participate in activities. - Ensures compliance with
all safety regulations and ISO standards.- Develops or revises
standard operational and working practices and observes workers to
ensure compliance with standards.- Provides technical direction by
reviewing designs to ensure compliance with external and internal
standards, and good design practices. QualificationsPLEASE NOTE: We

process.- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred; or equivalent
combination of education and experience, and 5-8 years'experience,
preferably in a manufacturing environment and 2- 5 years
supervisory and/or project coordination experience. - Requires
technical skills in chemical engineering, chemistry, material
science or equivalent to lead and manage the technical team.- Able

Workstyle DescriptionHybrid - This position is full time and offers
a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office two
company designated days a week and an option to work from home the
remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises
requiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work
