  • 24 bed unit that provides high acuity cardiac care to patients with severe heart failure, pre/post heart transplant, the Total Artificial Heart, and pulmonary hypertension.
  • Work with high tech equipment such as mechanical circulatory support including ventricular assist devices (LVAD, BiVAD) and telemetry monitors.
  • Environment relies on 24 hours consistent communication and intricate interdisciplinary teamwork skills.
  • Nurses handle 3-4 patients on this unit based on acuity level.Required Education :RN-Associate's Degree OR
    RN-Bachelor's Level Degree OR
    RN-Diploma (Non-degree) OR
    RN-Doctorate Level Degree OR
    RN-Master's Level DegreeExperience :None.Licenses and Certifications Required:Registered Nurse

    Preferred:Basic Life SupportNew Hire Education Requirement:All Registered Nurses who do not have their BSN will be required to sign a BSN Agreement committing to successfully obtain their BSN within 5 years of hire.BSN or MSN preferred.Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty; Critical Care/IMCU/EP/Advanced Heart Failure Center/SMG Cardiology Practices- ACLS within 1 year of hire; Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire; de-escalation and physical intervention training within 90 days of hire.For designated Oncology units, Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire. Women's Care - Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire. Behavioral Health - De-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire.Inpatient Pediatrics. PALS within 6 months of hire. All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.How to attendInterviews will be conducted at the Sentara Heart Hospital.
