nurse RN Stepdown for a travel nursing job in Chesapeake, Virginia.
Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Stepdown - Discipline:
RN - Start Date: 04/06/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per
week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Travel RN
– Stepdown Unit (SDU) | Chesapeake, VA Location Highlights -
Chesapeake, Virginia (Coastal Virginia area) - Close to Virginia
Beach & Norfolk - Great for outdoor lovers (trails, waterways,
coastal lifestyle) ? Shift Details - Night Shift: 3x12s (7:00 PM –
7:30 AM) - Weekdays Every Other Weekend (EOW) - Holiday rotation
required - No block scheduling Floating Requirements - Must be
willing to float to: - Med-Surg / Tele - ER Holding - Ratios when
floating: - Typically 1:6 (can go up to 1:7) ??? Unit Overview
(SDU) - General Stepdown Unit with mixed acuity patients - Common
cases: - Pulmonary: pneumonia, COPD, respiratory failure - Cardiac:
NSTEMI/STEMI (non-ICU), CHF, AFib w/ RVR - Sepsis (non-pressor) -
DKA (insulin drip) - CIWA - Post-op vascular & minor trauma cases
Patient Ratios - Standard: 1:4 - Occasionally: 1:5 Required Skills
- Vent management - IV starts - Telemetry - PA lines - Conscious
sedation - Neuro experience (strongly required) - IV titration
(including insulin drips) Certifications Required - BLS & ACLS –
American Heart Association - NIHSS System Requirement - EPIC
experience – REQUIRED (No exceptions) ??? Experience Required -
Minimum: 2 years RN experience - Preferred: 3 years travel
