The housekeeping staff may be assigned to clean a variety of areas. All work is performed within a resident-centered model.   • Employee Assistance Program JOB SUMMARYHousekeeping staff work under the direction of the Independent Living Housekeeping Manager or Healthcare Services Housekeeping Manager and may be assigned to clean a variety of areas including memory support units, long-term care and skilled care units, independent living resident units, public areas, offices and conference rooms. Housekeepers may be required to perform tasks that involve exposure to blood contamination and must follow the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects and materials and the clean-up of blood, infectious materials, or bodily fluids containing blood in accordance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
    • Maintains facilities in safe, sanitary, and infection-free conditions by cleaning and disinfecting areas as established by cleaning procedures, guidelines, and checklists
    • Reports any indication of residents' deteriorating physical, emotional, or mental health by noting such cues as uneaten foods, deteriorating cleanliness, unsafe placement of furniture or candles, incontinence, or conversations that indicate unhappiness or loneliness
    • Follows cleaning schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) as outlined; operates various mechanized cleaning equipment such as vacuums, etc.
    • Cleans assigned areas, furnishings, and fixtures according to established housekeeping procedures; removes housekeeping cart from the floor when not in use
    • Cleans floors utilizing dry mops, wet mops, brooms, and disinfectants; performs emergency housekeeping when accidents occur; displays wet floor signs on wet floors
    • Cleans movable and stationary furnishings and fixtures; dusts, spot cleans, or washes, disinfects when necessary, polishes where required including cleaning ledges, handrails, shelves, vents, etc.; empties, cleans, and relines wastebaskets and trashcans
    • Cleans and disinfects bathrooms including all fixtures, floors, and walls; washes windows and mirrors; replenishes bathroom supplies
    • Cleans and disinfects kitchens and kitchenettes including all surfaces and fixtures, cabinet doors, refrigerators, stove tops, and ovens
    • Cleans walls, windows, doors, and ceilings
    • Cleans entrances and exits, trash rooms and utility rooms
    • Cleans all horizontal surfaces daily or as required, removing dust, dirt, or greasy film, using disinfectants where necessary
    • Performs terminal cleaning duties according to established procedure in resident rooms when resident has been discharged or transferred, and prepares room for new occupant
    • Performs turnover cleaning duties according to established procedure in Independent Living and Assisted Living residents' homes
    • Performs work in a safe manner, reporting any necessary repairs, hazards, and unsafe conditions including improper disposal of medications and sharps, environmental conditions in units that could contribute to mildew or other hazards immediately to supervisor/director
    • Reports emergencies to security as necessary
    • Cleans and maintains equipment avoiding misuse; reports damaged or unsafe equipment to supervisor/director
    • Performs laundry duties following all state and federal regulations
    • Maintains infection control standards including proper hand washing and the use of PPE's
    • Attends scheduled training programs required by Williamsburg Landing and regulatory and accrediting bodies
    • Follows the Williamsburg Landing Hazardous Communication policy with regard to the use of cleaning chemicals
    • Evaluates work processes and methods and submits recommendations for continuous quality improvement.Requirements:QUALIFICATIONSAny satisfactory combination of education, training, experience, or abilities in a related field; ability to communicate and follow instructions in English, verbally and in writing. Valid VA Driver's License (Non-CDL) and good driving record (in accordance with Williamsburg Landing's policy) is a plus as this position may be required to utilize company vehicle.
