Position Description: Construction Foreman

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior job experience in the construction industry with a commercial or industrial general contractor, preferred
  • Understand how to use hand and power tools
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a variety of roles and have a flexible schedule according to project needs
  • Ability to understand, listen and follow directions
  • Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic as needed to count and take inventory
  • Ability to work well in a team environment

Scope of Responsibility:

The Construction Foreman will perform various tasks at various sites and projects.

Position Duties:

  • Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans
  • Monitor schedules and attendance of crew
  • Allocate general and daily responsibilities
  • Supervise workers and tradespeople
  • Ensure manpower and resources are adequate
  • Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
  • Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
  • Coordinate and resolve problems with PM when they arise
  • Report on progress to managers
  • Maintain cleanliness and prepare job site: trash, rubble, waste and degree removal, vacuum sweep, wipe down and mop
  • Ensure compliance with Centennials Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) guidelines and procedures along with all local requirements (OSHA, USACE EM385.1.1, etc.)
  • Responsible for notifying project supervisor/manager and safety officer if an HSEQ infraction is observed
  • Performance of the required job duties will be indoors and outdoors at sites that are under construction which may include various weather conditions
  • The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
    • The ability to walk terrain and surfaces that may be far, uneven, or temporary
    • The ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, talk and hear
    • The ability to frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel
    • The ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, squat, or reach
    • The ability lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
