Responsible for the installation of new or relocated mechanical and electrical systems and maintenance and repair of physical structures (e.g., walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows). Position requires incumbents to use electrical, mechanical and physical structure repair and maintenance skills. Responsibilities- Installation of electrical conduit (e.g., copper, galvanized, PVC), wiring, and various electrical devices, such as power panels, motor starters, disconnects, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures. - Leads projects involving the installation and/or removal of building components and equipment in accordance with regulatory requirements of applicable building codes. - Coordinates the installation of Building Automation Systems (BAS), based on engineered controls drawings and point lists, in accordance with BAS best practices and applicable building codes. - Visually inspects and troubleshoots equipment using electrical and electronic test equipment (e.g., voltmeter, ohmmeter, megohmmeter). - Utilizes knowledge of construction materials (e.g., fittings, piping) and electrical and mechanical systems (e.g., pneumatics, hydraulics, compressed air) and tools (e.g., bending equipment, hand tools, power tools) to troubleshoot, install and repair such systems and components. - Maintains and repairs various lighting system components (contactors, photoeyes, switches, fixtures, ballasts). Maintains and repairs exit and emergency egress lighting systems. - Confers with facilities staff to clarify work instructions and to ensure accuracy, completeness and correctness of work assignment. - May be assigned additional duties and/or special projects by the Manager, and/or Director. Qualifications- High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience, and 7-10 years' experience in electrical construction, BAS controls construction and maintenance. - Journey License required. - Electrical Master License in the State of Virginia preferred. - Knowledge of construction materials, building codes, current National Electric Code (NEC), and basic mechanical theory. - Advance knowledge of general safety requirements of OSHA and NEC, to include lockout/tagout, electrical safety, fall protection, and arc flash. - Ability to read work orders and utilize layouts (e.g., construction drawings, maps, wiring diagrams). - May be required to work overtime, perform on-call and may be assigned to other shifts based on company needs. - Must be 18 years of age to apply.
