Job Title: Maintenance Tech

Job Summary: Under the direction of the customer department supervisor, the maintenance tech will perform a variety of semiskilled trades for the maintenance support of the plant Vitesco, Continental Newport News, VA. This is a Regular Full time with Benefits, Pay Rate from $20-$25/hr.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: --

* Provides quality work, while meeting timelines and project completion dates.
* Performs general building maintenance duties, including but not limited to painting, light cleaning, and small repair.
* Installs and/or sets up items such as desks, chairs, and other office equipment.
* Support and maintain fire equipment, such as the fire pump, fire extinguishers and exit lights.
* Organizes and inventories supplies.
* Maintains the exterior grounds, including but not limited to small building repairs, pothole repair and painting
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Pulls wiring through conduit, or other areas assisted by helper
* Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement
* Disassembles and repairs defective electrical equipment or systems. Load, transport and unload material, tools, equipment and supplies, Maintains tools and equipment
* Be able to distinguish colors
* Understand and respond accordingly to all safety alerts, warnings, hazards, etc
* Use effective verbal and written communication skills
* Be capable of listening and communicating with other supervision and employees
* Be motivated and work safely and productively
* Understand LOTO procedures
* Must have 2 years of maintenance assistant work experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

* May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
* Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above
* Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas
* Must have full range of motion consistent with age
* Must be able to climb and maintain balance ladders
* Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms, and other job-related noises
* Visual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfaces
* Interpersonal Skills: (e.g. oral, verbal & written communication language skills, reasoning skills)
