Job Description:
U.S. Facilities, Inc, a consolidated building maintenance
services company, is seeking Ferry Crewmembers in Surry, VA. The
Ferry Crewmember shall serve as a member of a ferry boat crew,
providing assistance in loading and unloading the vessel with
vehicles; maintaining a safe and secure environment throughout the
loading, underway, and unloading processes; and adhering to all
U.S. Coast Guard and VDOT regulations while representing VDOT and
U.S. Facilities in a positive manner.
Core Responsibilities:
Direct vehicles and passengers to the proper location with clearly
understood signals during loading and unloading operations
Ensure proper spacing between vehicles, allowing for safe egress of
passengers
Properly chock first and last vehicle in each lane
Provide information and assistance to passengers
Properly handle vessel lines as required
Correctly stand lookout watch when required
Properly patrol decks and ensure compliance with safety and health
regulations
Ensure cleanliness of assigned areas and empty trash
Serve as emergency Helmsmen
Perform other duties as assigned to maintain the safety,
cleanliness, and orderliness of the vessel
Be alert to security violations and suspicious behavior
Respond appropriately to emergency situations
Perform security sweeps of the vessel between unloading and loading
to ensure passenger access areas are clear of passengers and
vehicles at the end of each passage
Any other duties assigned by a supervisor or Project Manager.

Keep abreast of weather forecasts for duty readiness in
reporting
Be prepared to operate appropriate equipment in all kinds of
weather conditions

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience performing manual labor with a variety of hand tools
Experience participating in and performing emergency response
activities
Ability to communicate with co-workers and the public effectively
and courteously
Knowledge of seamanship, line handling, and marine terminology
Valid driver's license
All new hires are required to get a Merchant Marine Credential -
endorsed as AB or QMED within two (2) years of the date of hire
High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent experience or
training may substitute for education
Preferred Qualifications:
Merchant Marine Credentials, any endorsement

Compensation:
No credential: Minimum $29,848; Maximum - $37,310
Able Bodied Seaman credential: Minimum - $33,322; Maximum -
$41,652
QMED (Qualified Member of the Engine Department) Minimum - $33,892;
Maximum $42,365
