Job Description:

This role designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.

Basic Qualifications

• Associate's Degree from and ABET accredited school, -and 1 year of experience
  
  This position is for an entry-level electrical designer. The candidate may work within any discipline, and will be exposed to some or all of the following disciplines: 4160/450V/120V power/lighting generation and distribution, interior communication circuits (alarms, lighting, machinery control, networks, navigation, fiber optic plant, or combat systems), compartment arrangements and compartment outfitting/design, or wireways.
  
  Although not a requirement, it would be beneficial for the candidate to have experience or familiarity with some of the following skills/subjects: AutoCAD drafting, aircraft carriers or other naval ships, performing basic technical calculations, resolving technical and design problems, basic electrical work methods, or preparing technical products or engineering documents.
