Job Description:

Duties * Analyze and diagnose problems reported by IT users. * Develop plans for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining user IT equipment and software. * Provide customer support and system administration services for the Directorate * Train system users on new or changed operating systems. * Maintain all required user data IAW applicable regulations and user agreements. * Plan, design, and develop testing/maintenance programs for all IT and peripheral equipment in support of the training and common use facilities. * Conduct studies to identify administrative and technical requirements of the organization. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. * This position may require temporary duty (TDY) for business-related matters up to 5% of the time. * Incumbent must obtain and maintain certifications per DOD Directive 8570.1-M, AR 25-2, DA PAM 25-1-1 and as detailed in the Information Assurance (IA) Training and Certification Best Business Practice (BBP) within six months of entry on duty. * Position requires Range Facility Management Support System RFMSS Functional Administrator certification. Incumbent will be required to attend and successfully complete the RFMSS certification within the first six months of entry on duty. * A valid state-issued driver's license is required to operate Government Furnished Vehicles. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting network and application server hardware and operating systems software; analyzing computer hardware and software malfunctions; and maintaining network security. - OR- Substitution of Education for Experience: Successfully completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, two full years of doctoral education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. (Note: You MUST attach a copy of ALL of your transcripts.) AND: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. IT Competencies: for this occupational series there are competency requirements in addition to specialized experience and/or education that applicants must possess in order to be minimally qualified. The competencies below must also be demonstrated in your resume. 1. Attention to Detail: Review data from multiple sources and determine relevant information to a given situation. Draft, edit and disseminate written reports and status updates that are factual, timely and relatively error free. 2. Customer Service: Develop and maintain relationships with customers with diverse needs. Provide technical information about products and services. Assess the needs of customers and identify or tailor products and/or services to meet their needs. 3. Oral Communication: Communicate, explain or defend ideas or information clearly. Listen to others and recognize potential miscommunications. 4. Problem Solving: Use logic to identify alternatives to solve technical problems. Identify and solve problems by gathering and applying information from a variety of materials or sources that provide several alternatives. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
