Eastern State Hospital, located in scenic Williamsburg, Virginia,
was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community
focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated
on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300
patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State
Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and
Developmental Services ( DBHDS ) system, and is accredited by the
Joint Commission.
Eastern State Hospital invites qualified applicants for the
position of Project Specialist.
This position may be required to work on-call rotating shift (Days,
Evenings, Weekends and Holidays).
This position reports to the Trades Manager for providing a safe
and comfortable environment for residents and staff. This position
conducts inspections of corresponding trades for 100% compliance
and support of JC, CMS , VOHSA , NFPA , National, State and Local
codes and standards, TMS work orders, and all assigned maintenance
and special projects programs. This position will manage special
project work including general maintenance, and advanced knowledge
in Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical and mechanical shops for the
replacement, installation of, and altering existing equipment
components and devices to ensure properly functioning equipment and
systems. Manages all resources required to complete in house
projects including but not limited to Material, trade tech labor,
contractor services, and all pre project permits and post project
inspections. The Project Specialist will also assist the safety
department with required PPE inventory, deliveries, and management
of ESH respiratory program.
This position is considered essential personnel and would be
required to work in the event of an emergency, pandemic, or
facility need. All ESH positions are required to work different
shifts to include nights, weekends, holidays, and/or overtime as
requested.
Minimum Qualifications :
--- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
--- Extensive Journeyman's level of experience in commercial:
plumbing, carpentry, electrical and HVAC fields.
--- Extensive experience with project planning and project
management.
--- Extensive knowledge and understanding of OSHA and VOSH safety
requirements.
--- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams and
schematics.
--- Experience in the supervision and management for facility
repair, replacement and remodeling projects in a healthcare
setting.
--- Experience with troubleshooting and repairing of various types
of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment as it relates to
a healthcare setting.
--- Experience in training and mentoring of lower knowledge
technicians in the proper techniques and use of tools and equipment
for maximum efficiency and compliance with applicable codes and
regulations.
--- Experience maintaining project paperwork and tracking of labor,
material and project costs and timelines.

--- High School Diploma or GED .
