Job Description Quality Analyst I Newport News, VA Posted: 12/5/2018 Category: Professional Job Type: Full-Time Minimum Experience: 0 Job Description Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to): - Develop and implement program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses. - Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards. - Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems. - Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies. - Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met. - Recommends corrective actions, dispositions and modifications - May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies - Use and/or application of principles, theories, and concepts. - Knowledge of industry practices and standards. - Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform professional tasks - Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity - Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy. - Works under general supervision. - Contributes to the completion of organizational projects and goals. Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results should be detected in supervisory oversight. - Frequent internal company contacts. Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor, and other professionals in the section or group. - Represents section or group on specific projects. Minimum Qualifications: - Adhere to operating site and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to facility operations. - Can work under minimal oversight of daily work. - Requires attention to detail, personal accountability/ownership for assigned tasks, ability to produce legible and accurate operational records, ability to manage multiple tasks/responsibilities, and an aptitude for operations. - Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job - Travel may be required. - Must have a valid driver's license. - Must be able to obtain and maintain and a government security clearance. - Must be a US citizen. Job Requirements Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree or NNS Apprentice School graduate, and at least 0 years experience. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: General and Radiation Physical Required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and must be able to use vertical or inclined ladders. 20% of the work may involve kneeling, stooping and standing. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. Regular exposure to work in high places and around moving machinery and vibration can be expected. The noise level may be loud due to equipment and machinery in use. 90% of these tasks will be working in an office environment, but also may include work in/on ship environment and at a computer work station on board ship. The employee will exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force to move objects. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and climb ladders and stairways, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
